Our Story

Traditional embroidery patterns incorporated with decorative elements have been prevalent since times immemorial. As a result, a great diversity of embroidery styles and motifs preserve comprehensive evidence of the complex history of Pakistan. Early embroidery works date from the sixteen century. During the Mughal Period, exporters demanded embroideries as their customers highly appreciated them. Cotton embroidery from Lahore, Gujrat, and Sialkot, in particular, were exported.

Household upholstery such as pillows, cushion covers, tablecloths, bedcovers, and tea coasters, all are decorated with different embroidery patterns. However, preparing the cloth to be embroidered has remained more or less similar throughout the country. The patterns are almost always dictated by local traditions. Nowadays, the number of skilled craftsmen and women who have the expertise of embroidery have migrated from rural areas of different provinces and settled in urban regions to have easy access to the market.

Most women bring cloths to embroiderers who have small blocks of motifs which are traced onto the fabric through tracing paper. Sometimes, stencil papers are used for commercial purposes. With innovation in techniques, hoops have been introduced for helping the embroiderers have a much precise style in embroidery.
