Our Story

The history of cushions can be traced back to ancient times. The royals in ancient times used to keep cushions for sleeping purposes as well as holding them on several fancy occasions. But nowadays, cushions are used by everyone to add colour and luxury to their home. Cushion covers in Sindh are prepared by using different art forms such as patchwork. Patchwork is a process that involves patches of cloth embroidered with a variety of designs, followed by the application of glasswork on them.

These patches are later sewed together into a single sheet. Afterward, a plain black cloth is affixed at the bottom of the embroidered sheet to offer durability and strength. However, the preference for designs is dominated by black and white in the northwest, as in Gambat, and the eastern regions of Sindh. The traditional checkerboard patterns, called tukri, and the intricate cut-out patterns are now very popular.
